BREEDER STOCK: We purchase several new breeder queens from Glenn Apiaries every year. We will also use daughters of previous years (Glenn Apiaries survivors) to breed from.
BREEDER STOCK SELECTION PROCESS: All breeders are selected according to the following criteria (This criteria is based on a weighted system giving priority to the items on the top of the list):

Survivability: How well did the hive survive through the Winter? The queens with the healtiest-robust hives are selected.

Brood Pattern: We select for full brood patterns. Minimal "shot hole" or blanks.

Bee Health: Hives containing workers with K-wing in the spring probably have had a higher mite infestation / virus rate. These are eliminated.

Demeanor: Are the bees working the comb calmly? We eliminate bees that "jump" off the comb or are skittish.

Honey Production: Analyzed based on last years honey production.
